While you´re out exploring the Nantahala National Forest, you´re going to find that Highlands is full of waterfalls. The biggest is Bridal Veil Falls, located northwest of the city and part of the Callasaja River.

You can hike to the Callasaja Falls just off the Mountain Waters Scenic Byway. While you can glimpse the falls from the road, they are not easy to get to.

Easier to get to is Dry Falls, located just up river from Callasaja Falls. It is so named because you can actually walk behind the falls and remain dry.

Popular for swimming, Quarry Falls is often little more than a high rapid with a deep, large pool west of Highlands.
